Weg naar de IndyCar Series
Na in 2021 het Amerikaanse Formula Regional kampioenschap te hebben gewonnen, maakte Simpson in 2022 de grote stap naar de Indy Lights. In twee seizoenen wist hij hier niet te imponeren, met slechts twee podiumplaatsen in zijn tweede seizoen als hoogtepunt. Dankzij een goed gevulde zak sponsorgeld, wist hij zich voor 2024 bij Chip Ganassi Racing in te kopen voor zijn eerste IndyCar seizoen.IndyCar debuut bij topteam Ganassi Racing
In St. Petersburg maakte Simpson zijn IndyCar debuut, waarbij hij met een twaalfde plaats een solide indruk maakte. Het zou vervolgens desondanks een moeizaam debuutseizoen worden, waarin hij steevast de traagste van de vijf Ganassi-coureurs was. De twaalfde plaats in St. Petersburg zou voor Simpson zijn beste klassering van het seizoen blijken te zijn, terwijl hij als 21ste in het kampioenschap eindigde.Ondanks dat Simpson tijdens zijn rookieseizoen weinig indruk wist te maken, mocht hij voor 2025 bij Ganassi blijven. Doordat het team van vijf naar drie wagens terugging, verhuisde Simpson wel van de #4- naar de #8-bolide. In zijn tweede seizoen was hij nog altijd een stuk langzamer dan zijn meer ervaren teamgenoten Alex Palou en Scott Dixon, maar toonde hij bij vlagen wel iets meer snelheid. Zo finishte hij in zes van de zeventien races in de top tien en behaalde hij in Toronto met een derde plaats zelfs zijn eerste podiumresultaat.
