Biography
Road to the IndyCar Series
After winning the Formula Regional Americas Championship in 2021, Simpson made the big leap to Indy Lights in 2022. Over the course of two seasons, he failed to impress, with just two podium finishes in his second season as the highlight. Thanks to substantial sponsorship backing, he secured a seat with Chip Ganassi Racing for 2024, marking his first season in IndyCar.IndyCar debut with top team Ganassi Racing
Simpson made his IndyCar debut in St. Petersburg, where he delivered a solid performance with a 12th-place finish. However, it would prove to be a challenging rookie season, as he consistently ranked as the slowest of Ganassi’s five drivers. The 12th-place finish in St. Petersburg turned out to be Simpson's best result of the season, and he ended the championship in 21st place.Despite showing little promise during his rookie season, Simpson was retained by Ganassi for 2025. With the team scaling back from five to three cars, Simpson moved from the #4 to the #8 entry. In his second season, he remained significantly slower than his more experienced teammates Alex Palou and Scott Dixon but did display flashes of speed. He finished in the top ten in six of seventeen races and earned his first podium with a third-place finish in Toronto.
