Kyle Larson is the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series champion. In 2024 and 2025, he made two starts in the Indy 500 as part of 'The Double.' In 2024, he impressively qualified fifth for the race, but fell back significantly during the race after a speeding violation in the pits and finished only eighteenth. Nevertheless, he was named Rookie of the Year.
In 2025, Larson faced more problems with the #17 IndyCar. The American crashed during testing in April and again during official practice sessions. Starting from the 21st position, he was unable to make an impact in the race and crashed out early after 91 laps.
Due to the logistical challenges of attempting 'The Double,' new attempts by Larson in the Indy 500 are not expected.
