Rung Series on the Way to IndyCar
After finishing third in the Danish Formula 4 Championship in 2017, Rasmussen quickly made the move to America. There, he successfully climbed the traditional 'Road to Indy' ladder: in 2020, he won the US F2000 Championship, a year later he claimed the Indy Pro 2000 title, and in 2023, he won the Indy NXT Championship. This opened the door at Ed Carpenter Racing for his first IndyCar season.
Rookie Season in the IndyCar Series
In 2024, Rasmussen competed in his rookie season in the IndyCar Series as a teammate to the more experienced Rinus VeeKay. In qualifying, the Dane managed to surprise multiple times, even outqualifying his teammate five times—something that predecessors Conor Daly and Ryan Hunter-Reay had not managed to do. Still, it turned out to be a tough first year, as he struggled to achieve strong race results. During his first IndyCar season, Rasmussen managed just one top-ten finish, a ninth place at Mid-Ohio, and finished 22nd in the championship standings.
Contract Extension with Ed Carpenter Racing
Despite a modest debut season, Rasmussen made enough of an impression to secure a spot with Ed Carpenter Racing for 2025.
