Biography

Jack Harvey's Path to IndyCar

Jack Harvey is a driver who has won multiple races in both Europe and the United States. In 2012, the Englishman even clinched the British Formula 3 Championship title, in a season where he competed against drivers like Indy Lights racer Félix Serrallés and Formula 1 driver Carlos Sainz Jr. In Indy Lights, Harvey finished second overall in both 2014 and 2015, leaving him without a contract in 2016.

IndyCar Debut with Michael Shank

In 2017, things fortunately changed for Harvey when Michael Shank signed him for the 101st Indianapolis 500. He drove a car prepared by Schmidt Peterson Motorsports, the team Harvey had raced for in Indy Lights for two seasons. In addition to the Indianapolis 500, he also competed in the last two races of the season in the #7 Schmidt Peterson Motorsports car after Mikhail Aleshin lost his seat. Although Harvey didn’t reach the finish line in his first Indianapolis 500, he successfully completed the final two races of the season.

Success with Meyer Shank Racing

In 2018, Harvey competed in six races with Meyer Shank Racing with Schmidt Peterson Motorsports. In 2019, the team expanded Harvey’s schedule from six to ten races. This proved to be a good decision: Harvey finished nine out of ten races, four of which were in the top ten. The highlight was a third-place finish in the INDYCAR Grand Prix on the infield of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Full Season and Results in 2020

Following his strong performances in 2019, Harvey, together with Meyer Shank Racing, was on the grid for the full season in 2020. He finished his first full season in the NTT IndyCar Series in fifteenth place, with six top-ten finishes. His best result was a sixth-place finish in the second race of the INDYCAR Harvest GP weekend on the infield circuit of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Disappointing Move to Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing

After racing for Meyer Shank Racing again in 2021, Harvey made the switch to Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing for the 2022 season. Despite high expectations, this period proved disappointing: in nearly two seasons, the Englishman finished in the top ten only once. As a result of the poor results, he was prematurely released from his contract in 2023.

New Opportunity with Dale Coyne Racing

Despite the setbacks at Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing, Harvey received a new opportunity with Dale Coyne Racing in 2024. Unfortunately, he was unable to make an impression with the small team from Plainfield, IL, with his best result being two thirteenth-place finishes.

Only the Indy 500 in 2025

Due to a disappointing 2024 season, Harvey was unable to secure a full-time seat in the IndyCar Series for 2025. The Englishman therefore opted to compete only in the Indy 500, driving for Dreyer & Reinbold Racing. Here he made little impression with a 28th place in qualifying, followed by a 19th place in the race. In 2025, however, Harvey was present at all IndyCar races, but as a pit reporter for FOX.
