Jack Harvey

Jack Harvey is een coureur die zowel in Europa als in de Verenigde Staten meerdere wedstrijden heeft gewonnen. In 2012 behaalde de Engelsman zelfs de titel in het Britse Formule 3-kampioenschap, in een seizoen waarin hij het opnam tegen onder anderen Indy Lights-coureur Félix Serrallés en Formule 1-coureur Carlos Sainz Jr. In de Indy Lights werd Harvey in zowel 2014 als 2015 tweede in het eindklassement, wat betekende dat hij in 2016 zonder contract achterbleef.

IndyCar-debuut met Michael Shank

In 2017 veranderde dit gelukkig voor Harvey, toen Michael Shank hem contracteerde voor de 101e Indianapolis 500. Hij bestuurde een bolide die was geprepareerd door Schmidt Peterson Motorsports, het team waarvoor Harvey al twee seizoenen in de Indy Lights had gereden. Naast de Indianapolis 500 reed hij ook de laatste twee races van het seizoen in de #7 Schmidt Peterson Motorsports-bolide, nadat Mikhail Aleshin zijn zitje daar verloor. Hoewel Harvey de finish niet haalde in zijn eerste Indianapolis 500, slaagde hij er tijdens de laatste twee races wel in om de finish te bereiken.

Succes bij Meyer Shank Racing

In 2018 nam Harvey met Meyer Shank Racing with Schmidt Peterson Motorsports deel aan zes wedstrijden. In 2019 breidde het team het schema voor Harvey uit van zes naar tien races. Dit bleek een goede zet: Harvey wist negen van de tien wedstrijden te finishen, waarvan vier keer in de top tien. Het hoogtepunt was een derde plaats tijdens de INDYCAR Grand Prix op het infield van de Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Volledig seizoen en resultaten in 2020

Na zijn sterke prestaties in 2019 stond Harvey in 2020 samen met het team van Meyer Shank Racing voor het eerst het hele seizoen op de grid. Hij eindigde zijn eerste volledige seizoen in de NTT IndyCar Series als vijftiende, met zes top tien-resultaten. Zijn beste resultaat was een zesde plaats in de tweede wedstrijd van het INDYCAR Harvest GP-weekend op het infield van de Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Overstap naar Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing eindigt in teleurstelling

Na ook in 2021 voor Meyer Shank Racing te hebben gereden, maakte Harvey voor het seizoen 2022 de overstap naar Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing. Ondanks hoge verwachtingen verliep deze periode teleurstellend: in bijna twee seizoenen finishte de Engelsman slechts één keer in de top tien. Als gevolg van de tegenvallende resultaten werd hij in 2023 vroegtijdig aan de kant geschoven.

Nieuwe kans bij Dale Coyne Racing

Ondanks de teleurstellingen bij Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing kreeg Harvey in 2024 een nieuwe kans bij Dale Coyne Racing. Helaas kon hij bij het kleine team uit Plainfield, IL ook geen indruk maken. Zijn beste klassering was tweemaal een dertiende plaats.

Alleen de Indy 500 in 2025

Door teleurstellende seizoen in 2024, kon Harvey voor 2025 geen fulltime stoeltje meer vinden in de IndyCar Series. De Engelsman koos daarom voor het rijden van alleen de Indy 500, bij Dreyer & Reinbold Racing. Hier kon hij weinig indrukmaken met een 28ste plaats in de kwalificatie, gevolgd door een negentiende plaats in de race. Harvey was in 2025 wel bij alle IndyCar races aanwezig, maar dan als pit-reporter voor FOX.
