During Pole Day for the 110th running of the Indianapolis 500, Felix Rosenqvist once again looked to be in a class of his own. The Meyer Shank Racing driver also topped the Top 12 Qualifying session by a comfortable margin. With a four-lap average of 232.065 mph, Rosenqvist was exactly 0.4 mph faster than Alex Palou, who recovered from a disappointing first segment to finish second. David Malukas posted the third-fastest run, in front of Santino Ferrucci.

After battling for a place inside the top twelve during the opening segment, the focus in Top 12 Qualifying shifted to securing a spot in the Firestone Fast 6, the final shootout for the prestigious Indy 500 pole position.

While cooler conditions earlier in the day favored drivers running sooner in the first segment, the opposite proved true during Top 12 Qualifying as temperatures began to drop again later in the afternoon. Drivers also had to deal with stronger winds, particularly in Turn 4 where gusts reached Force 4 conditions.

After only qualifying 11th in the opening segment, Palou was the second driver to make his qualifying attempt. His run immediately showed that the defending Indy 500 winner remained a serious contender. Not only was he half a mile per hour faster than during his earlier attempt, his average would have been good enough for fourth in the opening qualifying session.

One after another, drivers failed to improve on Palou’s benchmark, with many suffering significant drop-off between laps. As a result, Palou remained on top of the charts for much of the session. Malukas came very close during his attempt, but ultimately fell short by 0.2 mph.

As the final driver on track, Rosenqvist opened his run with the fastest first lap of the session. While no other driver managed more than one lap above 232 mph, Rosenqvist completed three of his four laps over the 232 mph mark to comfortably secure the fastest run of Top 12 Qualifying.

Joining Rosenqvist in the Firestone Fast 6 are Palou, Malukas, Santino Ferrucci, Pato O'Ward and Alexander Rossi.
