Patrick Straver
Patrick Straver founded OpenWheelWorld.net in January 2004, originally under the name ChampCar.nl. Since then, he has been writing about American open-wheel racing for nearly twenty years, first covering the Champ Car World Series and, since 2008, the 'reunited' IndyCar Series.
Writing for the website, Patrick built an extensive network within the Champ Car World Series, especially in the early years. He frequently interviewed drivers from the Netherlands but was also regularly found in the American paddocks. In 2007, he was part of the select group of 'hard card' media members who closely followed the racing series.
In 2007, Patrick also played a role in promoting the Dutch Champ Car Grand Prix at the TT Circuit Assen. As a partner of the race, ChampCar.nl, through Patrick, was responsible for a large number of articles and some of the photography in the program booklet and on the race's website. Through Patrick, the website also became the official news partner of the Dutch Champ Car Grand Prix, resulting in the news being featured on the official site.
After the 'reunification' of Champ Car and the Indy Racing League into the current IndyCar Series, many sources of income disappeared, and Patrick had to take a full-time job in addition to writing about the IndyCar Series. Despite this, he continued to attend some races and share his knowledge and experience through OpenWheelWorld.net.
Besides writing for OpenWheelWorld.net, Patrick has also written about A1GP and Superleague Formula (for the organization of the Dutch races), Sports Cars (1,000 km of Spa and the 24 Hours of Le Mans for Motorsport.com), and has worked on various PR activities for drivers.
Today, Patrick works as an SEO specialist for the online marketing agency DoubleSmart in Gouda.
