Qualifying order set for Indy 500 Saturday qualifying

Following the draw after Fast Friday practice for the Indy 500, the qualifying order for Saturday qualifying has been determined. Each driver — or a representative of that driver — drew a token at random to establish the initial qualifying order. An early draw can be particularly advantageous, as qualifying is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. local time, when track conditions are typically cooler and therefore faster.

The drawn qualifying order only determines the sequence for the first qualifying attempts. Once all drivers have completed their initial run, the track will be opened for anyone wishing to make additional qualifying attempts.

It remains highly uncertain whether Saturday qualifying will be able to proceed as scheduled. The weather forecast for Indianapolis on Saturday looks very poor, with a 100% chance of precipitation throughout the day and a lot of rain expected.
