Qualifying Order for Saturday Qualifying at the Indy 500

As is customary, the qualifying order for Saturday was determined following Fast Friday practice. A draw was held to decide the order in which drivers could attempt their first qualifying run. An early run is always advantageous, as conditions are typically cooler—and therefore faster—at that time. The best starting position went to Marcus Ericsson, who will be the first to make a qualifying attempt.

During the draw, IndyCar teams send a representative to blindly select a box containing a coin with a number on it. In some cases, it’s the team’s driver who makes the pick, while in others it might be a sponsor or another team member.
