The Children's of Alabama Indy Grand Prix at Barber Motorsports Park was perfectly in line with the style of the 2025 IndyCar season: caution-free, fast, and dominated by Alex Palou. A total of 760 race miles have now been completed without a single caution. This resulted in the fastest IndyCar race ever at Barber Motorsports Park! What else stood out? We summarize the race weekend in a series of numbers.

Alex Palou, Barber Motorsports Park1071 - With the 81 laps that Alex Palou led at Barber Motorsports Park, he has now led 1,071 laps in his still young IndyCar career. The other active full-time drivers with more than 1,000 laps led are: Scott McLaughlin (1,235), Scott Dixon (6,829), Colton Herta (1,148), Will Power (5,301), and Josef Newgarden (4,122).

760 - The Alabama Indy Grand Prix was the third consecutive IndyCar race without a caution. The only caution this year occurred after the opening lap in St. Petersburg – since then, 1,223 race kilometers have been completed without interruption!

116,5 - The 2025 edition of the Alabama Indy Grand Prix was the fastest ever! The average speed of winner Alex Palou was 116.5 mph (187.5 km/h). That’s more than 1.5 km/h faster than the second-fastest race, which took place in 2023.

88 - A total of 88 on-track overtakes for position were recorded during the race. That is significantly fewer than last year, when 281 passes for position were documented.

82 - Honda continues to dominate the engine manufacturer championship; with 366 points after four races, they already have an 82-point lead over Chevrolet.

69.0177 - Alex Palou claimed pole position, the victory, and also set the fastest lap of the race: 1:09.0177, or 69.0177 seconds. He was nearly two-tenths of a second faster than the second-fastest lap, surprisingly set by Santino Ferrucci.

60 - With three wins and one second place, Alex Palou now has a commanding lead over his nearest competition: Christian Lundgaard currently sits second, trailing by 60 points.

Rinus VeeKay, Barber Motorsports Park26 - The fact that Dale Coyne Racing reached the Firestone Fast Six was notable; the last time was with David Malukas on the streets of Nashville in 2023 – 26 races ago!

25 - The three rookies struggled in Alabama: Robert Shwartzman finished 25th, Louis Foster 26th, and Jacob Abel 7th.

24 - The fourth-place finish by Rinus VeeKay is the best result for Dale Coyne Racing since the race at WWT Raceway in 2023, when David Malukas finished third – 24 races ago!

16 - So far, Prema has faced challenges in its debut season. Still, the team found a bright spot in qualifying: a 16th-place start by Callum Ilott marks the best qualifying position ever for the team in the IndyCar Series. However, the race was less positive – Ilott finished 23rd.

14 - The victory by Alex Palou is now his 14th career IndyCar win. This moves him from a tie for 34th to sole possession of 33rd on the all-time IndyCar wins list.

14 - Scott Dixon gained the most positions during the race: despite the lack of cautions, he gained 14 spots from his 26th starting position.

9 - Nolan Siegel finished ninth – this is his second career top-10 finish (after seventh at WWT Raceway in 2024) and his first top-10 result on a road or street course.

Colton Herta, Barber Motorsports Park5.3 - Colton Herta continues to struggle during pit stops, a recurring issue in recent years. On lap 46, the Andretti Global driver made his second pit stop but stalled his engine. He managed to restart his Honda, but the stop ended up being 5.3 seconds slower than his first pit stop.

3 - Only three different drivers led laps during the race at Barber Motorsports Park: Alex Palou (81 laps), Marcus Armstrong (6 laps), and Scott McLaughlin (3 laps).

2 - Only the top two in the championship – Alex Palou and Christian Lundgaard – have managed to finish all four races this season inside the top 10.

2 - Remarkably, this was the second consecutive race without any retirements. Every driver who started also took the checkered flag in Long Beach.

0 - Race control had a quiet day as well; no penalties were issued during the race.
