2025 is set to be the year in which Ed Carpenter Racing takes a clear step forward. The team has undergone significant changes since the last race: investor Ted Gelov provided the team with a substantial financial boost, Rinus VeeKay was replaced by Alexander Rossi, and the team adopted a new branding style. The goal is for the team to make noticeable progress in the IndyCar field.

In addition to the larger budget, the arrival of Alexander Rossi marks the second major change at Ed Carpenter Racing. After two disappointing seasons with McLaren, the American hopes to fight for victories again with his new team – particularly at the Indy 500, where Ed Carpenter Racing has traditionally been strong.

“I think the team is changing at a rapid pace, which is incredibly exciting to witness and be part of. There’s a lot of internal excitement about everything that’s going on,” Rossi said. “I think we’re all still trying to find our place a bit within what feels like an almost entirely new organization. But things are going really well, and my experience so far has been nothing short of fantastic.”

“My goal for 2025 is to be competitive and to contend for the win at Indy, which I think is something you should expect from ECR and myself.”

Christian Rasmussen had a rookie season last year filled with ups and downs. Although he only managed one top-10 finish (ninth at Mid-Ohio), he showed a clear upward trend in his results – with 11th, 16th, and 14th-place finishes in his last three races. Additionally, the 2023 Indy NXT champion demonstrated flashes of impressive speed and kept damage to a minimum, which was enough to secure a multi-year contract extension with Ed Carpenter Racing.

“There are a lot of exciting things happening within the ECR organization, so it’s been super cool to be part of it this winter and to see those changes unfold. I think last season was a bit up and down. We showed pretty good pace at multiple locations but rarely had the results to back it up. This year, the main goal is to convert that speed into results.”

“Of course, I want to perform better than I did last year, and I think the team’s expectations are definitely higher considering the investments that have been made. It’s hard to put an exact number on it, but ultimately, the goal is to compete for wins, podiums, and consistent top-10 finishes. If we can achieve some of that, I think it will be a successful year.”
