Biografie
Alfonso Celis Jr. maakte zijn debuut in de autosport in 2011 in de Campeonato Turismos de Velocidad 1800cc rijdend voor Nova/AST Racing, de Mexicaan maakte in dit kampioenschap meteen een spetterende indruk door de titel te winnen na alle zeven wedstrijden vanaf pole position te zijn vertrokken en vijf van de zeven races te hebben gewonnen.Sindsdien heeft Celis Jr. in onder andere de Formula BMW Talent Cup, de GP3 Series, de GP2 Series en de World Series Formula V8 3.5 gereden al zouden grote successen over het algemeen uitblijven, wél wist Celis Jr. in het laatstgenoemde kampioenschap als derde te eindigen in 2017 met een enkele pole position en overwinning.
Alfonso Celis Jr. zal tijdens het race weekend op Road America zijn IndyCar debuut maken bij Juncos Racing na eerder al voor hetzelfde team aan een Indy Lights race weekend te hebben deelgenomen.
De Mexicaan zal in het IndyCar weekend op Road America dan ook zijn eerste wedstrijd rijden in één van de snelste open wheel wagens ter wereld nadat Celis Jr. in de Formule 1 bij Force India het 'slechts' heeft moeten laten bij een aantal vrije trainingsessies.
