    Gabby Chaves heeft tot op heden geen gemakkelijke IndyCar carrière gehad, toch lijkt het aankomende seizoen een behoorlijk interessante te worden voor het talent uit Colombia. Chaves debuteerde bij Bryan Herta Autosport in 2015, kwam op de wedstrijd in Pocono na, iedere wedstrijd aan de finish en werd met twee top tien resultaten Rookie Of The Year.

    Echter ging Bryan Herta samen met Andretti Autosport vanaf het seizoen 2016 en was er geen plaats meer voor Chaves. Gelukkig voor Chaves kon de Colombiaan toch nog zeven wedstrijden rijden bij Dale Coyne Racing, Gabby Chaves kwam elke wedstrijd aan de finish met als beste resultaat een twaalfde plaats behaald op het stratencircuit van Detroit, Belle Isle.

    Voor 2017 zag het er in eerste instantie weer niet rooskleurig uit voor het Colombiaanse talent tot dat hij een telefoontje kreeg waar in hem werd verteld dat Harding Racing de Indianapolis 500 wilde gaan rijden en hem graag als coureur wilde. Nadat Chaves de Indianapolis 500, tevens het debuut van Harding Racing, op een uitstekende negende plaats afsloot besloot het team om ook de andere twee super speedway wedstrijden op Texas Motor Speedway en Pocono Raceway te rijden.

    Na het uitstekende resultaat in Indianapolis wist Chaves deze lijn uitstekend door te trekken in Texas door daar keurig vijfde te worden. Het eindresultaat in Pocono was wat minder, wel kwam Chaves in deze wedstrijd aan de finish na de race vanaf een keurige achtste startplaats te zijn aangevangen.

    Dit seizoen gaat Harding Racing voor het eerst voltijd deelnemen aan het Verizon IndyCar Series kampioenschap met Gabby Chaves die dan aan zijn tweede voltijd seizoen gaat beginnen.
