On Track This Week '17 - IndyCar Grand Prix
Round 5 of the Verizon IndyCar Series kicks off today at the Historic Indianapolis Motor Speedway with the 4th running of the Grand Prix of Indianapolis. Like the Red Headed Step Child, this oddly placed road race plonks down like a speed bump just 2 weeks after everyone was in a frenzy over the start Month of May.
Given that they are only driving partially on the oval, and in the opposite direction, there is very little advantage to be gained by teams prior to the 500 practice lead up. Teams however are able to move in and settle into their garages for the month.
This is also the first opportunity for a couple of May only drivers to work with their teams, some lucky enough to use this race to shake off the cobwebs. Joining the cast this weekend: Juan Pablo Montoya (Penske) and Spencer Pigot (ECR)
