Aleshin Leads Opening Practice at Pocono

It was a Honda throwdown in opening practice for Sunday's ABC Supply 500 with Schmidt Peterson Motorsports teammates Mikhail Aleshin and James Hinchcliffe leading the way. Josef Newgarden broke up the Honda party by turning the third quickest time, while Andretti Autosport's Alexander Rossi and Carlos Munoz ran fourth and fifth, giving Honda four of the top five in opening practice.

The session was interrupted three times for incidents. Ryan Hunter-Reay crashed in the opening minutes in the middle of turn one, heavily damaging the left side of his Dallara. Charlie Kimball had a similar crash in the second half of the session, likewise heavily damaging the left side of his car. In the final minutes, Juan Montoya also crashed, this time exiting turn two and impacting the wall with right side of the car. All drivers were checked and released and cleared to drive the rest of the weekend.
