The IndyCar Series will attempt to run the Saturday race at the Milwaukee Mile on Sunday. The race was halted after 90 laps due to rain and could not be resumed before darkness fell in Milwaukee. As a result, the restart of the Saturday race is currently scheduled for 8:00 AM local time (9:00 AM ET), although it remains highly questionable whether the track will be dry by then.

The race was already scheduled to start 40 minutes late after rain fell shortly before the scheduled start. When the green flag finally waved, polesitter Pato O’Ward managed to retain the lead ahead of Josef Newgarden. Felix Rosenqvist, who started fifth, passed two cars and moved up to third by the end of the opening lap.

As O’Ward began encountering lapped traffic after 20 laps, Rosenqvist saw an opportunity to make a move for the lead. After the first round of pit stops, however, the Mexican driver regained the lead with a pass in Turn 3.

The rain clouds returned over the Milwaukee Mile after 64 laps, forcing the race to be neutralized. The cars ran behind the pace car until Lap 90, when it became clear that the track was too wet to continue and the race was stopped with a red flag. The rain then continued for too long to allow the race to resume.

IndyCar drivers and teams will now have to get up early on Sunday, with the restart scheduled for 8:00 AM local time. If it is raining again at that point, IndyCar will shift its focus to running Sunday's race first, which is scheduled for 1:20 PM. If the Saturday race is postponed, it could potentially be completed late Sunday.

The current forecast calls for a chance of rain through noon local time, after which the sun is expected to break through.
