  • Biography

Ted Horn was an American Indy Car driver who gained fame primarily by winning three Indy Car championships—then known as the AAA National Championship—in 1946, 1947, and 1948.

The American also competed in ten Indianapolis 500 races but never managed to win the event. However, he finished second once, third four times, and fourth another four times. In 1947, he earned his only pole position for this legendary race.

Horn tragically lost his life on October 10, 1948, at the age of 38, during the season finale in Du Quoin, Illinois. By that time, he had already secured his third championship title.
