Takuma Sato, PKV Racing was formed as a Champ Car World Series team in 2003 with a one-car effort. Owned by Dan Pettit and Kevin Kalkhoven, the team earned its first podium finish with Miko Salo behind the wheel. In 2004 the team expanded to a 2-car effort with Jimmy Vasser. In 2005, PKV Racing added Jimmy Vasser as an owner and driver Cristiano da Matta, who scored the team’s first victory in Portland. Katherine Legge joined the team in 2006, marking the first time a female driver has competed in a full-season in the Champ Car World Series.

With the team’s move to the IndyCar Series in 2008 the team went over a little make over as its name has changed to KV Racing Technologies with Kevin Kalkoven and Jimmy Vasser as owners. For 2010, the team has expanded dramatically. Takuma Sato, E.J. Viso, and Mario Moraes have all signed on for full-season programs, with Paul Tracy running select races, including the Indy 500.
