If there is a team that is one to watch this year to see how they adapt from the Champ Car World Series to IndyCar, Newman/Haas/Lanigan Racing is it. In its twenty-five year history the team has won eight Champ Car titles with a who’s-who of motorsports including Mario Andretti (1984), Michael Andretti (1991), Nigel Mansell (1993), Cristiano da Matta (2002) and Sebastien Bourdais (2004-2007). The team also has 105 victories, 106 pole positions and has won at least one race per season in 24 out of 25 years.

Newman/Haas Racing was formed when actor Paul Newman and long-time racer Carl Haas (competitors in the Can Am Series) each began thinking about fielding a team in the Champ Car series in 1982. The duo decided to join forces in 1983 with Mario Andretti as their driver. Since then they have been making racing history together, helping Mario Andretti to 18 wins and scoring the unheard-of F1/Champ Car double with Mansell in 1993. In 2007 the team made history again as Sebastien Bourdais earned his record-breaking fourth consecutive championship.

Under the revised name of Newman/Haas/Lanigan Racing (the name changed in 2007 when Mike Lanigan bought a portion of the team) the most successful team in the Champ Car World Series is ready to take on the 2008 IndyCar season with drivers Justin Wilson and Graham Rahal.
