The roots of Conquest Racing goes back to 1997 when Eric Bachelart (1991 Indy Lights Champion) decided to field a team in the Indy Lights Series. Eric Bachelart, the owner of Conquest Racing, has been involved with American open wheel racing since he moved to America in 1990 from Belgium. In 2002 the team stepped up to the IndyCar Series with Laurent Redon collecting a podium finish in the third race of the season and capturing the Rookie of the Year award. In 2003 Conquest Racing debuted in the Champ Car World Series. Conquest Racing has been committed to bringing in new, young talent to their team. In recent years Conquest Racing has been instrumental in helping promising drivers such as Justin Wilson (2004), Andrew Ranger (2005) and Graham Rahal (Atlantic Series Team 2006).
In 2008, Conquest Racing introduced Champ Car Atlantic Series stand out Franck Perera, former Formula One test driver Enrique Bernoldi and former Indy Lights driver Jaime Camara to IndyCar Racing.
Due to financial struggles, the team has scaled back to one entry for 2009, running Alex Taglian in a part-time schedule.
