Edmonton-IndyCar FP1: Franchitti, Dixon Lead early in Edmonton
Dario Franchitti led the opening session for the Honda Edmonton Indy, after joining many others and waiting out the first half of the session. For several minutes in the early going, no cars were on track, as all knew that the conditions would drastically improve when rubber was laid down.

Teammate Scott Dixon made Target Chip Ganassi the early team to beat, taking the second spot in first practice. Will Power, Justin Wilson, and Helio Castroneves rounded out the top five.

Paul Tracy looks to be rebounding from a tough weekend in Toronto, as he was sixth quickest in the late morning session.

A second session will roll off at 4:45 EST.
