Toronto - Lights FP1: Hinchcliffe fastest, brings home crowd to their feet
James Hinchcliffe excited the home crowd as the Canadian turned the fastest lap in opening practice for the Firestone Indy Lights. Points leader J.K. Vernay was right behind Hinchcliffe, turning the second fastest lap of the day, only five-hundredths of a second slower. Martin Plowman, Sebastian Saavedra, and Charlie Kimball rounded out the top five.

The lone incident of the session came when Stefan Wilson Charlie Kimball got together entering turn three, forcing both into the runoff area. Neither driver did significant damage, however, and both were able to continue.

Their second practice will be held Saturday morning at 8:00 a.m.
