Dominguez speaks out about his car accident
Mario Dominguez Pacific Coast Motorsports driver Mario Dominguez was involved in a motor vehicle accident over the weekend in hometown of Mexico City. Unfortunately what began as a simple fender bender soon escalated, as did the hype surrounding it.

Exaggerated reports of police chases and driver intoxication were soon swirling, prompting Dominguez to make a public statement via the teams PR department.

“Unfortunately I was involved in a car accident here in Mexico City on Saturday and thankfully no one was hurt. I was on my way to an early golf tournament and I made an error and hit a taxi cab. I left the scene for help because I was assaulted by another taxi driver that stopped at the scene. It was an unfortunate accident and despite there being no citations issued, I have offered to cover the vehicle damage. I am frustrated by the false interpretations reported of this incident, and I would like the media to know and report the truth, which is why I’ve asked to include this police report. I hope in the future my good results and charity efforts garner the same type of coverage.”

Mario DominguezAccording to our Spanish correspondent the rumors of his driving while intoxicated seem far fetched as those suspected of DUI, famous or not, are usually held in police custody for 36hrs. Dominguez however was not formally charged with anything, according to the police report provided by the team, and stood around chatting with fans and reporters following the incident.

Despite not being formally charged however it is also being reported on the local radio that this incident may have lead to the loss of his Visit Mexico sponsorship. It is unclear at this time whether this was a formal statement from the tourism board, or mere speculation on the part of the on air reporter.
