Vitor Meira, Long Beach Victor Meira is another Brazilian stand out whose racing career has led him to IndyCar racing. Meira started racing in karts when he was 12 and moved to Europe when he was 19. He raced in various European and South American series before concentrating on making it in North America. Making his IRL debut in 2002 at Kentucky with Team Menard, Meira made it to the podium before year's end.

Meira was the inaugural winner of the Indy Racing League's Rising Star Award, given in honor of the late Tony Renna. Since then the Brazilian has finished in the top ten on a consistent basis. His best overall championship finish was fifth with Panther Racing in 2006. He will join the team again for the 2008 season.
