Dan Wheldon will grace Chip Gnassi Racing with a smile and clever British charm as he joins the team for a third season. During an impressive IndyCar career; Wheldon has boasted 13 career wins, including a victory in the 89th running of the Indianapolis 500, five pole positions, and a championship title (2005). Dan Wheldon’s race career in the United States began in 1999 when he promptly dominated and claimed the US Formula 2000 Championship following that up with runner-up finishes in both Toyota Atlantics and Indy Lights Championship.
The Brit made his IndyCar debut with Panther Racing in 2002. The following season he joined Andretti Green Racing where he promptly claimed Rookie of the Year honors. 2005 was a break out year for Wheldon as he became the first Englishman to capture both the series title and Indy 500 win in the same season.
