Perhaps more recognized for her off track activities as a cover girl than for her on track prowess (she most recently was featured in the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue) Patrick began racing at an early age quickly racking up numberous karting titles. 1998-2001 would see her competing in various formula series throughout Europe.

In 2002 she was signed to Rahal-Letterman racing with whom she would contest the Toyota Atlantic Championship for two seasons, as well as her first two seasons in IndyCar, including 2005 where she finished fourth at the 89th Indianapolis 500 and earned Bombardier Rookie of the Year honors. In 2007 she switched to Andretti-Green Racing, where she continues in 2008.
