Marco Andretti, Saturday Fast Six Challenge LBGP 2012 Marco Andretti is the 21-year-old son of Andretti Green Racing co-owner and former driver Michael Andretti. After competing in the Star Mazda series in 2005, Marco made his IRL debut on March 26, 2006 at Homestead-Miami Speedway, becoming the youngest driver to ever compete in the series.

Andretti picked up Rookie of the Year honors in the 2006 Indianapolis 500 after finishing second to Sam Hornish Jr. with the second closest margin of victory in Indy 500 history. A win at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, California in August of that year gave Andretti the record as the series’ youngest winner. Andretti’s sophomore season did not go as smoothly, as he failed to complete 10 out of 17 races.

Rejoining Andretti Green Racing in 2008 for what would prove to be a tumultuous season alongside team mates Tony Kanaan, Hideki Mutoh, and Danica Patrick, Andretti saw a slight improvement in his performance tying his career best six top-five finishes, becoming the youngest driver (21 years, 79 days) to earn series pole at Milwaukee, and finishing 7th on the season.

2009 would see the 3rd generation driver take a small step back results wise, but an improvement in attitude and sportsmanship.

2010 finds Andretti back with the newly renamed Andretti Autosports with hopes of getting back on track literally and figuratively.
