Kansas: Tidbits from the Track: Sunday (w/photos!)
The statistical history of the Champ Car World Series and the IndyCar Series won’t be combined this year. The IndyCar Series is still researching options on how the statistics from both series can be combined. They hope to have the statistics merged for the 2009 season. IndyCar is also considering publishing a statistics book, like Champ Car always did, which would be a complete history going back to 1909.

**********
The drivers who scored points in last weekends Champ Car finale at Long Beach and drove for teams who didn’t make the move to the IndyCar Series, won’t get points for the IndyCar Series championship should they make the jump later this season. This is because they didn’t participated in IndyCar’s TEAM program. An exception to this is Pacific Coast Motorsports & driver Mario Dominguez who signed the deal to move to IndyCar prior to the Long Beach event.

**********
For those curious about the new sponsor on the side of Enrique Bernoldi’s Conquest Racing car this weekend it was ALT, a producer of bio diesel, and it was just a one race deal.

**********
At the post race press conference, Tony Kanaan remarked that he thought that the Kansas race itself was just boring, both for himself and for the fans. Scott Dixon chimed in on what he thought the problem might have been: because of the cold weather, most cars had so much grip that overtaking was very difficult.

**********
As we mentioned in our post race report, Marty Roth came into the pit lane too hot and careened into one of Tomas Scheckter's crewmembers. Roth was penalized for the action with a 25 second stop & go penalty. Adding insult to injury however, one of Scheckters crew members smacked Roth in the head following the pit lane scuffle. No word on whether any disciplinary action was taken on that crew member.

**********
EJ Viso almost didn’t compete in this afternoons race. Not because of technical problems, but because he almost fell off the stairs during the drivers introductions!
hmmm... perhaps had he fallen Danica would know who he is...
(don't worry EJ, she didn't know who Gloria Steinem was either)

**********
Speaking of Danica,.. as anticipated her long awaited race victory in combination with the subsequent hyped up media frenzy has helped the ticket sales upcoming IndyCar Series. Infineon Raceway alone has seen an increase of 400% for its IndyCar Series race.
